I love this song because it is exactly how I'm feeling right now...I have someone over in Iraq right now and I know this is exactly where him and his family are at as well as me...I can relate to it so much and I just want him to know we're all thinkin bout him back here at home and we all love him very much and we want him to be safe and get home asap.

This song takes the cake. Many artist have tried to get war/away from home feeling. But for the first time one person did it right. This is an amazing song that keeps me heart warm. My Chris, has been gone since Jan and wont be back until 2005 Late Jan or Feb. I miss him more than ever. and this song makes the tears fall with out being able to hold them in.

This song came on the radio today and the tears fell like rain. Aaron leaves for Afghanistan in a week. He won't be back for at least a year, most likely later than that. This song touches the subject in ways no other song ever has!

Wow! this song really touches me. I mean the very end part Dear son, I know I ain't written
Sittin' here tonight alone in the kitchen
It occurs to me
I might not have said it
So I'll say it now...
"Son, You make me proud"
I hold it up and show my buddies
Like we ain't scared
And our boots ain't muddy
But no one laughs
'Cause there's ain't nothin' funny
When a soldier cries
And I just wipe my eyes
I fold it up and put it in my shirt
Pick up my gun and get back to work
And it keeps me drivin' on
Waitin' on letters from home
Made me almost tear up. it came as a shock. its a classic

This has become a very special song to me over the past couple of months, since my fiance left for Iraq in Feb. I listened to it all the time, in fact I was listening to it when I got the phone call that he had been injured and was coming home. I pray for all of the soldiers who are left and pray they come home soon!

I think this song was great. My man is
in the Army deployed and the part of the
song "this is me kissing you" I laugh at
every time I hear it because In the first
letter he wrote to me he had asked me to send
a kiss in lip stick so every time I hear that
part of the song I laugh at the thought of.
Great Song!

The first time I heard this song I was half asleep with my country station on because sometimes it helps me sleep. I was kind of out of it, and I was trying to figure out what kind of job gets your boots muddy, and that you need a gun for. I was kind of confused until the last verse, "cuz there ain't nothing funny when a soldier cries" I literally sat bolt upright and started crying. It's a great song about how the love from family and friends can keep the soldiers going.
