Come Back To Bed Lyrics

Send "Come Back To Bed" Ringtone to your Cell

Still is the life
Of your room when you're not inside
And all of your things
Tell the sweetest storyline
Your tears on these sheets
And your footsteps are down the hall
Tell me what I did
I can't find where the moment went wrong at all

You can be mad in the morning
I'll take back what I said
Just don't leave me alone here
It's cold, baby

Come back to bed

What will this fix?
You know you're not a quick forgive
And I won't sleep through this
I survive on the breath you are finished with

You can be mad in the morning
I'll take back what I said
Just don't leave me alone here

It's cold, baby

Come back to bed

You can be mad in the morning
Or the afternoon instead
But don't leave me
98 and 6 degrees of separation from you, baby
Come back to bed

Don't hold your love over my head

My interpretation of "98 and 6 degrees of seperation"...98.6 is the normal body temperature for people...body seperation...what usually happens when two people are in bed together? They join as one...98.6 degrees of seperation means she is not one with him..at least that is what I think anyway.

"You can be mad in the morning or the afternoon instead..."

98 and 6 degrees must be referring to how our average body temp is 98.6 degrees and how she's as far from him as 98.6 degrees (think geometry and angles). Maybe it means that when she's laying with him in bed it's 98.6 degrees warm because her body (which is that temp) is there but when she leaves it's no longer that warm.

I've seen John 2x's and will see him again in July here in KC.
The last time I saw him....this song was the most amazing part of the concert...he FEELS the lyrics...he FEELS the music. He spoke during this song too...but he described leaving a voicemail for his girlfriend who happened to be be in the same house with him at the time. He talked about hearing her greeting and how wonderful it was that her voice was not mad...something he was not use to. He touches me in a way that no other artist has been able to..I can't wait for the July show.
I'm taking my daughter.

There are some songs that on the CD are just okay, but when you hear them performed live, it just takes it to a whole new level.

This is one of those songs. When I saw him in concert, he played with such passion, such skill, that it become almost a new song. It's up there with the live versions of "Back to you", and most notably, his second best live song ever (in my opinion, at least), Covered in Rain.

I recently saw John and his band live in London and he played a lot of the new songs from Heavier Things. Having only been on UK release for a few days, I knew very few of the songs but loved the new material. The gig would have been a 6 or 7 out of ten, had it not been for the live version of this song, which punts it to a good 9. In the middle of the song, he spoke over the music about how men and women differ in relationships and how men don't understand women (which is SO true!). It was a live version which I hope will one day be released for general consumption. The blues soloing was out of this world, he sang Jimi-style along to part of it and then, perhaps for fear of being branded a plagiariser, sang harmony to his own guitar part. Genius.

This is probably my second or third favourite off the album. 'Wheel' is first and it's a flip between 'Come Back To Bed', 'Clarity' and 'Daughters' for second spot. Great album.

(By the way, does anyone else think it sounds like he's singing 'Come back to me' in the chorus??!)

All times are in Greenwich Mean Time.
The time is now 04:10:12.
