I wouldn't say Clapton imitates anyone. He has influences but stands on his own as one of the top 8 guitarists of all time (personal preference is cool though). Furthermore, I wouldn't say he stole "Layla" (Pattie Boyd) from his buddy, George Harrison... it didn't really happen totally like that, and they remained friends after it all anyway... Eric and Pattie ended up splitting up too... "Layla" is a total jam and Clapton's intro guitar is awesome!

i like this song alot, i like eric clapton he is a good song writer and can immitate other guitar players (eg BB King) very well. but i would not say he is god. Jimmie Paige, Satriani, Knopfler, these guys are better guitarists. but hey each to their own right?
wicked song shame about the whole stealing best mates wife

This song was writen for George Harrison from the beattles wife, layla.
Clapton ended up "stealing" and marrying her.
The funny thing is he and Harrison were still friends

I'm Only 13, but I grew up with this song... watching as my mom would sway back and forth in the kitchen, mumbling the words under her breath. I loved the song then because it brought her so much happiness.... I now love this song, and I feel as though the words truly speak to me. Another fav by Eric is "Tears in Heaven" it's about his four year old son who was running around the house, and he ran straight out the window, falling five stories before he hit the top of another building not far below. My favorite line from that song is "would you know my name? if you say me in heaven?" try it out.

Great song. I don't care what anyone sez this is amazing. The lyrics are great. I think that it was good of old George that they still stayed good mates evan though Clopton fancied the pants off George's wife.

You guys are right, I'm only 15 and I love this song, I only bought the album because it had my name on, but as I listened to other songs, O realized how great hos music was. I do listen to like Jet and Hoobastank and Incubus and stuff like that, but I also have a love for classic rock.
