This song is great. It could be seen as merely teenage rebellion, but to me, it's about becoming greater than what you came from. My parents are so condescending when they talk to me, and they don't realize how much it hurts. They don't see that if they showed how much they cared even when I mess up, if only they showed concern instead of anger and disdain, I would be much more inclined to become what they want me to be (although I don't think I could EVER be a conservative!). And then they wonder why I talk to my brother the way I do! I learned it straight from them!
