Hey You Lyrics
Send "Hey You" Ringtone to your Cell
Hey you out there in the cold
Getting lonely getting old
Can you feel me?
Hey you standing in the aisles
With itchy feet and fading smiles
Can you feel me?
Hey you dont help them to bury the light
Don't give in without a fight.
Hey you out there on your own
Sitting naked by the phone
Would you touch me?
Hey you with you ear against the wall
Waiting for someone to call out
Would you touch me?
Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone?
Open your heart, I'm coming home.
But it was only fantasy.
The wall was too high,
As you can see.
No matter how he tried,
He could not break free.
And the worms ate into his brain.
Hey you, standing in the road
always doing what you're told,
Can you help me?
Hey you, out there beyond the wall,
Breaking bottles in the hall,
Can you help me?
Hey you, don't tell me there's no hope at all
Together we stand, divided we fall.

"Well, only got an hour of daylight left. Better get started"
"Isnt it unsafe to travel at night?"
"It'll be a lot less safe to stay here. You're father's gunna pick up our trail before long"
"Can Loca ride?"
"Yeah, I can ride... Magaret, time to go! Maigret, thank you for everything"
"Goodbye Chenga"
"Goodbye miss ..."
"I'll be back"

i pretty much agree 100 percent with offspring 4ever on this one. i too am a teenager and i used to listen to rap then i got into classic rock, it pretty much started with led zeppelin, but pink floyd with their incredible lyrics just blow my mind they are great. some other great bands include zeppelin, ac/dc, the who. those are some of my favorites.... hey offspring, while it's true a lot of music can be shoved into the category of 'crap,' don't make hasty judgements. If you search hard enough, you'll find decent music for and from today's generation. Take a listen to the John Mayer Trio, or the Darkness. There are still quality bands that are worth looking into, who still know how to play guitar, and still know how to rock our souls.

i love this band....the lyrics are awesome, and the sound is great too.... ive been getting into the classic psychadelic music lately...classic rock is pure and meaningful, and this band really shows off what classic rock is....this is the music that my friends and i listen to.....im a teenager and i even think that rap, what kids today call music *grr* is senseless and meaningless... pink floyd, led zeppelin, bad company, aerosmith....these are the kind of bands ppl should b listening to...not ying yang twinz or...young jeezy...wtf...ive been told i listen to "white people music"...o well

And yeah i agree with "the last true rocker"(not about him being the last true rocker) everything in is life is just bricks building and plunging him into deeper and deeper isolation and insanity

It's not his fault he built "the wall" his life was a bitch. But he did manage 2 brake free from the wall in the battle with his mind during "the trial" and was free thus the last song "outside the wall".
But who knows wot then happens.
There was also another song in there that was on roger waters sollo album.

You're right fat_mono, we all can relate to times when we want help with life but can't ask. Yeah, the guitar solo is great too.

I agree with Dinendal666. Though I don't understand some songs on the album, it seems as if the facts of his dad's death, his mean schoolteachers, and his abondoning girlfriend added more sadness to his life . As he says, all in all they were all just bricks in the wall. It seems to me that the wall was his greif and anger, and the bricks were his sadness. The wall was built to shut himself of from everything. Hey You seems as a final cry for help. While it's still sad in a few ways, it's the best song on the album.

I think maybe he is crying for help from his peers, but also for the remnants of himself. Like the part of him beyond the wall he left behind. The old him. He wants his former self to go back to him. That's how I see it anyway.

Can't quite say I've heard much better than this. It seems to be both a cry for help, and a message to deal with your problems instead of sheltering yourself away.

I know this is a site for lyrics, but i gotta comment on the guitar solo....just awesome! brilliant stuff. I truely believe that anyone with the ability to make this type of incredible music that just hits every sensitive heart string, is/are completely gifted musiscians. I love there work so much, it always pulls me when I am dwelling too much. Te lyrics in this song are ones that i am many people can relate to, to a degree...i mean who hasnt ever felt that they are hurting just to much to let someone in to help? and when they then do want help, its almost too late to ask...its hard, but thats life i spose...it wasnt ever meant to be easy...there would be no point to that...we gotta live, gotta learn, gotta grow

I disagree with you Foamy_Worshiper, according to what I've seen in the movie and heard in the alvum, he built the wall due to all the bad things that happened to him through his life. He wants someone to help him, but dosen't want to ask for it. He lost his dad in a war, his mom cheated on his dad, his school teachers were evil, and his girlfriend also cheated on him. So how exactly would he as you say "deserve" this?

This song is kinda sad but he deserved what he got!! I mean building a complete psycological wall between yourself and everyone else and then wanting to talk to people??? Of course no one gave a damn about him after he finished the wall. so everyone else said "you lock us out, we lock you out." But the whole album was cool. Disturbing, yes, but cool.

I think that this song is about Syd Barret but alot of PF songs go from 1 topic to another.... I just think so because of the part were it says worms entering his brain which most have some type of symbolization to Syd Barret but i could be wrong

Who knows what the great PF meant by this song. I've always felt that it's about 'breaking free' from what you've been told to do, but who knows. It's noteworthy that this is the ONLY song that appears on the actual album that is NOT in the movie. Also, there are 2 songs that appear in the film that are not on the album ("When The Tigers Broke Free" and the longer version of "One of My Turns")...

that last part after about tv isn't part of the song. It's part of Is There Anybody Out There the next song on the album, The Wall.

Agreed, you really need to put the song in context with the rest of the album to get a true understanding of it. It was cut out of the movie but the DVD has it as a short music video, it's a pretty intense scene it's too bad they cut it out.

This song makes me feel lonely. It is a testimony to the great artistry of Pink Floyd that they always manage to surprise me again and again when their songs maipulate my emotions.
