Whipping Post Lyrics

I've been run down and I've been lied to.
And I don't know why, I let that mean woman make me a fool.
She took all my money, wrecks my new car.
Now she's with one of my good time buddies,
They're drinkin in some cross-town bar.
Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whippin post.
Tied to the whippin post, tied to the whippin post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin.
My friends tell me, that I've been such a fool.
But I had to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin you.
Drown myself in sorrow as I look at what you've done.
But nothing seemed to change, the bad times stayed the same,
And I can't run.
Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whippin post.
Tied to the whippin post, tied to the whippin post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin.
Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whippin post.
Tied to the whippin post, tied to the whippin post.
Good Lord, I feel like I'm dyin.

Saw the bros do this song at five different concerts...and used to listen to it before football practice to get pysched up!
Lawdy that was a long time ago, but it is one of the greatest rock songs of all time, and if you listen closely to the live version on Fillmore East, you'll hear that right after the end of the song, they start up "Mountain Jam"...that's a solid HOUR of playing, man! You don't see that anymore.

The lyrics to this song are the epitomy of my life story. Saw 'em in '72 at Watkins Glen..I think...hell I was trippin' on peyote buttons and smokin black hash. Ahhh...the days of my youth!

This song is amazing to listen to whenever you're really pissed off about something. All you do is sit back, turn up the volume, and listen to the amazing music that accompanies the powerful lyrics of this song!
