Won't Get Fooled Again Lyrics
Send "Won't Get Fooled Again" Ringtone to your Cell

We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya?
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

This song is truly one of the greatest songs of all time. From the rocking guitar sound only the who can create to that voice with that soul searing scream to the brililant lyrics...wow
By the way i'm going to see the who in two weeks and am SUPER pumped. Rock on!

Well, a confessed CSI obsessee (is that a word?) has to have this song...I love the start of it, very nice.
It's also got a very good message: Be careful when yo try to change the way things are, because it might just get a lot worse.
And even if you hate the politicians, just smile and get on with the show.

The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again
(guitar and key bored solo)
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday

We don't get fooled again
No, no!

this is definately an anti establishment song now you just have to decide who is represented by the establishment you, them, or us? I think that Pete is saying in the lyrics that it could be each one and so he talks about each one in the song the good the bad and the ugly so to speak. Excellent song and another classic.

This selection, used as the theme for "C.S.I.: Miami," is actually a rather cautionary selection. It warns, "Watch out how you attempt to change the Establishment, or the New Order may very well end up being the same as, or worse than, the Establishment was."

People say that My Generation is the Best Who song, but I reckon that this one rocks heaps harder. Its cool cuz I'm 14 and I love all my dads music like The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple etc. I also totally agree with that kid little Rockerboy or whatever - it would be the BEST to see all these bands live in concert now!!!

What's this song about? Someone down there said it was the "anthem of the 60s." Depends what you thought the 60s were about. I think Townshend is laughing at all the dopes on dope who thought they were going to create a revolution while they were twiddling their navels and dropping acid. He foresaw that, nope, they would eventually grow out of that, clean out their diapers, and become yuppies and screw up the world as badly as their parents. You might remember he hated Woodstock with a certain passion. Just a thought. Great song though. Published in 1971, it fits in with more with an Orwellian 1984 world than the 60s, I must say!

oh ya i love this song the who rocks, and i'm a kid too and i also love zepplin, pink floyd, Lynard Skynard, the stones, yes, stuff like that. I just wish i could see em in concert and have it cost 25 bucks for decent seats like it did in the 60s/70s. for stones tickets nowadays are like 280 bucks...crazy.
oh ya also after the 2nd chorus theres a smaller scream, not as good as the main one tho.

This song is the Sixties anthem, no other song encapsulates that era like this one does, or so I am told.

Best scream in rock history. One that comes close is the one in Deuce by KISS, but I think the scream is better on Ace Frehley's live solo album, 12 Picks. If you like screams, check that out.
