Also, It makes sense that this song could be dedicated to children of divorce. It's moving, sorrowful, and shows a streak of compassion. There's a pervading sadness to this song (as many others on the album) that's not too overwhelming.
I've been following DM for 20 years, and like a previous poster mentioned: DM has always put out insightful, thought provoking lyrics and music. I'm happy that they have returned to form. I've missed them. Too bad the Chicago tour date was cancelled because Dave got sick. :-(

I wasn't excited by the Exciter album. But this one....whoo boy! I love it. This song is as almost as addictive as Dave's herion of the 90's (okay, not really, but I really do love this song and the rest of the album!)

<< im pretty sure martin wrote this song for his children because he and his wife were going through a divorce. >>
Divorce--sheesh, why didn't I think of that...?
Well, it makes a lot more sense.

im pretty sure martin wrote this song for his children because he and his wife were going through a divorce.
i wish my parents would have done something like this to explain it all to us. this song is really moving to someone that went through this. the line "i wish i could take the pain for you" always chokes me up.

omg, this song is one of their best yet!
It reminds me of my 13yr old son Christian.
Both his father and I divorced, but we both
LOVE him very much!!

I saw this video this morning on VH1. The song struck a chord with me, and I think I found a reminder of the 1980s, when videos were GOOD.
One question, though--is this about someone dying? The lyrics point in that direction.
