Let me preface this with the fact that I love Muse, modest mouse... etc... and i love her voice... my dad a musician loves her voice, my vocal coach/boss/opera singer mother in law loves her voice. Read that again Opera singer, she has flat out said... she has a beautiful instrument that can and will be used for generations to come. She has also said it's been finely trained. As a songwriter and poet and writer in my own right i believe it's a beautiful song. The best songs with the most meanings and heartfelt way about them are the simple ones. This song is only three to four short stanzas stating that without this man she would not be. It touches people... it makes them think... it makes them feel.
Thus why i think you are a moron of the highest order... don't judge music is what my dad always said... embrace it. And don't be naive about it... or closed minded because about it because you will never know the true meaning of it all... is what my grandma said also a musician.

This song is very beautiful, I never knew that Amy didn't wan anyone to find out about this song. Well, now that everyone has I guess there's nothing you can do. Hey Amy, even though you didnt want people to know about this song well at least people like it. No wonder when I was trying to get it it said rare and stuff like that. Well, I love you guys, you're my favorite band. Keep up the good work. Oh yeah I love The Open Door, I think my favorite song would have to be The Only One, I've been going through a lot of crap and your music makes me feel better and makes me able to move on. It's not that she's famous and she won't get privacy..it's the an artist should realize that if they record anything, it will get to the public...
..and when it gets to the public, to make such a big show of this song only makes it more in demand...however personal, people don't care..They just want things that they are told they can't have.

This song is not very good at all. In fact, if it weren't for all the hype it wouldn't even be talked about. Her voice is clearly in its infancy as is her writing. Sure, it's got some personal flaire, but that's not enough to make it a good, much less great, song. Get over it people! And go listen to Muse if you want to hear some real music.

Alright, so the song was leaked. The damage has been done. Even if everyone here deletes their copies of "You" and the lyrics are somehow deleted from this site, it won't do much. Anyone can download LimeWire or another music program and get "You" for free in only a few minutes. Tons of other sites have the lyrics.
The bottom line is that nothing can be done. It may be against Amy Lee's wishes, but people are still going to listen to this song and discuss it and post the lyrics. My word on the matter? Everyone RELAX. We're not minions of Amy Lee out to enforce her will.

are supposed to remove said lyrics or mp3s immediately.
The song was never supposed to be released,
it was a personal song dedicated to her friends and family...
The band has made many announcements on their official site
to please stop circulation of said song.

Makemeunderstand: Rare Traxx 3 or whatever its called is not a real CD. It's a fake bootleg. And for everyone who didn't know - this song leaked because it was recorded at the same session Before the Dawn and other tracks was recorded. One of the reps had accidently released a copy of the songs to the public, without the consent of Evanescence and Amy Lee, so this song spread. It is against Amy's wishes to further discuss this song, and to even own it. It is very personal between her and Ben, and it was only for her closest friends and family. If you truely love Evanescence, don't comment on this song any further.

I had absolutely no idea about this ... I've not listened to Ev. in about a year, but now I've started listening again, and I thought I'd look up these lyrics. I'm not really surprised, they are very personal. I shall delete the song immediately.
I can see the point in some of the comments asking why it was released in the first place, though, if she didn't want it to be.
Ah well.
