Ok, first of all I am a huge John Lennon fan, he was a great man who did great things for men. This song is about the lack of equality in the world, and about how we should put aside differences and try to get along with all. Arguing about which version is better is all right, but to become hostile and call people dumbasses and what not is just sad, especially on a web page with a song dedicated to peace. Still, this is a brilliant song and is not only one of the greatest Christmas songs ever written, but one of the greatest, most passionate songs ever. RIP John Lennon, we miss ya.

i would just like to say, ne1 that thinks the pop idols version is better is just dumb. Now im not mad, because i figure most of u have a little mental problem if you like the pop idols version better, but be realistic, john lennon is the greatest

I've not heard the John Lennon version at all. It's a wicked song though - we did it in school choir for our christmas show thing - and we rocked!!! Wicked song.

just the same as you i had this song played at christmas in my school but 2 yr 11 pupils sung it and they were great they made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up the only differnce is i think pop idol did it justice and u obviously dnt hav a clue wat u are sayin so until u study music shut up and keep ur commments 2 urself
