okay kids if you want to know what the ending is about i might suggest watching a very good but old film from which it is taken, Fast times at ridgemount high. this film is one of the original teen movies along with porky's and totally ace, forget American pie. When you see what happens with kim cattrall you'll realise this film beats all other teen movies. If you need more help on the ending your too young and should wait till your older. ace song!!

I just have to point out first, that I NEVER see music videos anymore, even when I'm looking for them. I work 48+ hrs. per week, so mostly, I don't even watch TV anymore.
However... unless I'm totally out of touch, Stacy's mom is actually Rachel Hunter, former spouse of Rod Stewart. The song is a tribute to her, not to the detriment of Stacy. It's also a tribute to OLDER women who are sexy - through age, divorce (quite a social taboo in some circles), and motherhood (since some people think MILF's aren't that sexy). That Stacy herself gets passed over is only do to the fact that the boy wants an older, more sophisticated, more established and mature (read sensible) woman. Not that younger women are less sensible, but that's what some young men (read boys) think.
Now, if you want to argue the tribute to Ms. Hunter part, then let's talk about the 'hang by the pool' part of the lyrics. That's a not-so-subtle reference to her days as a swimsuit model, in Sports Illustrated, if memory serves. Still not going to give me that one? Fine. Read Stuff magazine's January 2004 issue, there's an interview with Rachel Hunter, and a sidebar in which guitarist Adam Schlesinger tells how she was picked to star in the video (for those of you out of touch, he's in the band Fountains of Wayne). She was 'at the top of our wish list.'
Last but not least, who cares? It's just a good song. Sorry for those who don't like it, we do. As for those soured on it by bad experiences, I really do wish those hadn't happened (the teacher, those girls named Stacy who get teased). At any rate... just enjoy the damn thing, and see that it's meant just to be catchy, and a tribute to women of age. After all, EVERY boy wants an older woman at SOME point in his youth - it's a fantasy, probably something psychological having to do with wanting a woman who is 'worldly and experienced' - as if that means she's 'sensible and mature.' Not that women can't be that, but I'm just saying that's likely to be a young boy's perspective.
Oh, just shut up and listen to the song and like it. Or don't. Go away.

i personally have great feelings of hate for this song. grrr. i think that well yeah if "stacys mom" went for the kid in the video cuz of w/e reason, well, him being under 16, if they got caught or reported for her doing anything with him... she would be way busted. like as in pegged as a sex offender or child molester or something like that.
AND there is a guy at my school, a teacher, who is a pervert who is a sex offender but the police and principals at my school wont believe the allegations toward this him. he likes this song cuz he thinks that the girls in his classes are like the boy in the song/video and that he is like stacys mom. it is beyond creepy.
and yes that is true cuz my friends and i overheard him telling that to another teacher. our lockers were by the teachers lounge.
I HATE. THIS SONG.
