this song is great. I agree the lyrics are symbolic. But the most important thing about a song is how it sounds. And this song sounds so good!

I think the things that attracts me most to a song are it's lyrics and overall symbolic meaning. These lyrics, from a symbolic stand point, in my perspective are saying that; Life is long and you go through a lot of shit you don't nessarily want to deal with. But after a while, it becomes so overdone and recycled, you get used to it and it doesn't seem to bother you anymore. (ie: As life gets longer, awful feels softer.) I think the title 'the view' represents being at that point where it doesn't matter anymore and you've learned to deal with it. Even though it's sometimes awful and 'painful', it's worth it in the end. Even though the song shows some contridicitions to that, (ie: If life's not beautiful without the pain, well I'd just rather never ever even see beauty again.) But, the next line is 'Well as life gets longer, awful feels softer. and it feels pretty soft to me.' When it says:('We are fixed right where we stand.') I think that means, yes we are stubborn with the fact that when things are bad we tend to want to believe they cant get better. Just because we dont want to deal with the disappointment if they dont. But of course everyone wants to get to the point of 'having the view'. I really adore this song, I think most people can relate to it's message (the message I think it contains).
