A Hazy Shade Of Winter Lyrics

Send "A Hazy Shade Of Winter" Ringtone to your Cell

Time,
Time,
Time, see what's become of me
While I looked around for my possibilities.

I was so hard to please.
Look around,
Leaves are brown,
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter.

Hear the Salvation Army band.
Down by the riverside's
Bound to be a better ride
Than what you've got planned.

Carry your cup in your hand.
And look around.
Leaves are brown.
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter.

Hang on to your hopes, my friend.
That's an easy thing to say,
But if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend that you can build them again.
Look around,
The grass is high,
The fields are ripe,
It's the springtime of my life.

Seasons change with the scenery;
Weaving time in a tapestry.
Won't you stop and remember me
At any convenient time?
Funny how my memory skips
Looking over manuscripts
Of unpublished rhyme.

Drinking my vodka and lime,
I look around,
Leaves are brown,
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter.

In the mid and mid-late 1960's Paul Simon entered a very introspective, moody, often gloomy, foggy, English place in his head, and created one of the greatest and most creative collections in pop music history. This song is just one of the better examples, out of dozens.

oops, I posted on the wrong one. I meant to post on "At the Zoo". I was looking up both those songs...

Simon and Garfunkel ROCK! erm, in an acoustic guitar, harmony sort of way. But then, that's the best kind! Yay!

I really love "Poem on the Underground Wall", and my sister keeps telling me that "I am a Rock" is my theme song. I'm not sure whether or not that's good.
Anyway, this song is cool too. You gotta watch out for those giraffes, they're insencere (sp?)

Many also remember the Bangles' (1980's) Remake of this song... but even still, they aren't known as a punk group either...

Were there any versions of this song before Simon/Garfunkel?

Punk...? Folk rock. Punk wasn't around in the 60's.

It's such a beautiful song. "Weaving time in a tapestry/ Won't you stop and remember me / At any convenient time." It has such wonderful images. I love almost all of Simon and Garfunkel's work, but this is one of my favorite songs.
