This is a very nice solo. But yes, Megadeth is better. I'd have to say metalica's first couple of albums were better than what megadeth did, but megadeth always had at least decent albums, were metallica got worse and worse. Starting with when the sound of metalica got more popular sounding with the black album, which was ok. (not to say megadeth never did that) Anyhow, St. Anger and that stuff is so bad i think Megadeth wins by default.

A couple things here, guys.
1.) The Megadeth instrumental is called Into the Lungs of Hell.
2.) The guitarist on "So Far, So Good, So What?" is Jeff Young, not Marty Friedman.
3.) Anoymous is a moron, and doesn't appreciate the excellence of a FUCKING BASS GUITAR playing this. Not too many bass players today that can play like this, can they? An excellent instrumental.
4.) The instrumental song is on here probably because if someone wanted to know what CD the track was on, they could find it. Besides, this instrumental is so badass, it deserves it's own page here.
And finally: (This will piss some people off good)

In answer to the post by one of the "anonymous's" below, criticizing the skill required for this solo; I must point out that "Anesthesia" is not a GUITAR solo, it is a BASS solo. If it were played on a rhythm guitar, it would not be very impressive (at least not the first part), but the whole astounding thing is that it was done on a BASS guitar. And if you give it another listen, (and this time for more than 30 seconds) you will hear that Cliff DOES go completely and utterly metally insane on it a little farther on. I mean, before Cliff came along, did you EVER hear a Bass do ANYHTING like that? I don't think so. Neither did James nor Lars, which is why they were willing to move to San Francisco from Los Angeles, just so Cliff would agree to be in Metallica!
So don't go comparing Marty Friedman (from Megadeth), one of THE BEST guitar-soloists of thrash metal, to a Bassist, even Cliff Burton. That is an insult to Marty, because it's like apples and oranges. You just should't be comparing the two.
(Oh, and don't be too shy to post with a nickname.)

This is the worst solo ive ever heard. A solo to me is something you can not sing words to. A chance to rip shit up. This just doesnt do it. If you want to hear a real solo listen to Megadeth's So Far So Good cd, Track 1. That is a real solo!!
