Alison Lyrics
(written by: Elvis Costello)
Send "Alison" Ringtone to your Cell

Oh, it's so funny to be seeing you after so long, girl
And with the way you look, I understand that you were not impressed
But I heard you let that little friend of mine
Take off your party dress
I'm not gonna get too sentimental
Like those other sticky valentines
'Cause I don't know if you are loving some body
I only know it isn't mine
Allison, I know this world is killing you
Oh, Allison, my aim is true
Well, I see you've got a husband now
Did he leave your pretty fingers lying in the wedding cake?
You used to hold him right in your hand
Ah, but he took all that he could take
Sometimes I wish that I could stop you from talking
When I hear the silly things that you say
I think somebody better put out the big light
'Cause I can't stand to see you this way
Allison, I know this world is killing you
Oh, Allison, my aim is true
My aim is true
My aim is true
(REPEAT AND FADE)

My name is Allison also. I wasn't named after this song, but my friend was. My mom's friend thought i was named after the Allison truck part but I'm not, it was just what my parent's agreed on. This song doesn't describe me as well as "Allison" by the Pixies does.

Wow. Brooks, you "lost" a girl just like Allison and want her back? And Elvis just wants to gun his down. Odd.
He ripped Linda Ronstadt a new one for singing it so sweetly when she covered it. It is beautiful to hear her version, but totally inappropriate.
Kind of weird to hear someone name their kid after such a vengeful song, too. I guess I can see it, because I light up when I hear the word. But the character itself . . . I guess if you can get past that, and allow the name to embody the song and how it makes you feel rather than the character it represents.
I'm pretty sure the song is titled "Allison," btw (as of this writing, it's up there as "Alison."

1st of all: Jim's last name is Bird because he has a bird brain. What kind of idiot cheats on his girlfriend and then sends her to jail? She's better off in prison than having to spend time with a moron like Jimbo anyway.
2nd: Alison has a nice ring to it, but; it is so much more than that. It's about a guy in love with a girl who didn't chose him, knowing he could have made her happier, but she doesn't even know it. That was what she chose so he can't do anything about it.

My name would be Alison but my parent's didn't want to call be that so it isn't. But if I was a boy my dad would've called me Starbuck which is a bit unfortunate. Luckily he didn't know Starbuck was a girl's name too.

My name isn't alison. Apparently such things interest people. Sweet song, though, and I really, really like Elvis Costello.

I used to know a girl named alison. The funny thing is she caught me in bed with another gal who used to kick like a mule in bed. Anyway, Alison was so mad she cranked me in the face with a shovel. I called the cops and had her arrested. Now she is doing two years in jail for assault. I look back at the whole experience and laugh my head off. Just to give her one last jab last Valentine's Day I sent her a pack of smokes with a sappy card. The card explained that I have married the gal she caught me with but I'm still available for conjical visits if she wants. HA ha ha ha poor Alison! What a terd!

This song reminds me of a girl I used to know who's name wasn't Allison. The part about "I hear you got a husband now" really fit her well and she wasn't married if you get my drift.
"I bet he took all he could take" could be interpreted a couple of ways too.

Hey! Guess what? My name's Allyson too, but it's spelt differently. I absolutely LOVE this song!! I find it quite interesting to see how many 'Alison's' there really are in the world!

I don't have any friends named alison, but if I did, perhaps this song would describe them.
