ohk. i have just spent the last half and hour in class reading all of these comments and to tell you the truth a lot of you guys are being a tad bit ridiculous. who cares if it is or not about lsd? not a big deal. enjoy the song for what it is not what it is about. and to "anarchypunk", this is a place to comment music. not a counseling center. anyways. its an amazing song.

OOOoohhh, trippy lyrics! Look at the initials! MUST be about LSD!!!
My lovelies, I Am The Walrus is trippy. Is there a drug called IATW?
For fuck's sake, give it up. Julian drew a cute picture. John saw it and said "Hey, what a beautiful title," or something like that. And a great song emerged. Yes, they did drugs. BUT... drugs did not influence all their songs.

i don't doubt the song could have been inspired by drugs and i'm sorry that's what it took if it was but that can't change the pure bliss of the fantasy and the abstract beauty it portrays. I STILL LOVE THIS SONG!!!!

This song may have turned out to be related to drugs. However it did not start out like that. It started out from a picture that John Lennon's son drew. It was a picture of a girl named Lucy- I'm pretty sure it was one of his classmates- floating in the sky with diamonds. Yes, I know all of The Beatles did drugs, ofcourse they did lol who didn't then? But this song didn't start out like that. Lennon even shows the picture in an interview he had once. I'm not sure which documentary it is on, but I'll find it and post it.

I really love this song! I had no clue that it was about LSD untill last Friday. It was also the 1st time I heard it. It was during health class and we were talking about drugs, and we listened to some music involving drugs and I heard it. I never knew that such a psycadelic song would be a song about LSD! I was extremeley surprised! Well, it was pretty obvios in the beginning,"the girl with the cellophane eyes" the girl with the blood shot eyes......duh!! Drugs take control of your life, your money, and your self respect. Accept it, those who do take drugs. My health teacher showed us a picture of a guy who commited suicide, he hung himself. Simply because he was going through a withdrawel from drugs. He needed drugs but he was trying to stop. But he needed it and he couldn't help it so he hung himself. And by the way he had the chance to save himself just by stepping on the chair, it wasn't that high, but he was so low with his morals that he just wanted to die. Bye the way, this song rocks! Don't Do Drugs! Peace On Earth!

i've looked up many things about this song and i even have a book written by The Beatles called "The Beatles Anthology" and in it John says word for word "This is the truth: my son came home with a drawing and showed me this strange looking woman flying around. I said, 'What is it?' and he said, 'It's Lucy in the sky with diamonds,' and i thought, 'That's beautiful.'............................................. ............If you ever get the chance to read this book, the page i just quote is pg.242

LOL if you think this song isn't about acid... you obviously havne't seen the music video on The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" movie. And of course the Beatles did drugs, it was the '60s... EVERYONE basically did drugs. Paul McCartney would get caught with pot all the time. They also all admitted to doing acid and I'm sure they all did a lot of other drugs. But who cares if they did drugs, thats their own business. Anyways this is a great song, i LOVE it! Kind of puts you in a good state of mind :p

I'm going to be different and talk about something other than the 'drug' LSD. Why should there be a right or wrong answer? No need to swear at each other over it.. peace man!
Anyway.. I'd just like to say how the song Lucy in the sky with diamonds has been very influentual to me. When I went manic, we had a lecture on the song lucy in the sky (ironically), and i couldnt stop talking about my views... shortly after that i decided that it was lucy in the sky controlling my thoughts.. now i know you're all thinking she's probablly taken lsd, but to those people out there who know anything about manic depression you'll know its like the best drug in the world.. but genetics, not substances. check out the following websites...

yes.. I'm a potential genius :)
sorry if this has gone off the subject, but i wanted to open minds, and clear the 'debate'/ cat fight thats going on.
ooh 'i do bite my thumb sir!'
peace dudes!

ok, you all are a bunch of idiots. yes the song is about lsd. look at the lyrics!! in my opinion if you can't even tell how trippy the song is then you are messed up. or it is quite possible that you have never done drugs in your life, so you wouldn't understand about weird words in songs. plus whoever said that the beatles wouldnt write about that is seriously a complete idiot. you cannot be a real beatles fan and not know that they took lsd. plenty of times. i have read interviews of them admitting to doing it quite frequently. sorry if that disapoints you, but if you honestly thought the beatles didnt do lsd and other drugs like that than you need to wake up and do some research.
