April Come She Will Lyrics

Send "April Come She Will" Ringtone to your Cell

April come she will
When streams are ripe and swelled with rain
May she will stay
Resting in my arms again
June she'll change her tune
In restless walks she'll prowl the night
July she will fly
And give no warning to her flight
August die she must
The autumn winds blow chilly and cold
September I remember
A love once new has now grown old

Paul during a 1968 Hollywood Bowl concert:
When I was living in England, about three years ago, four years ago, I worked in a club in a town called Swindon. It's about 100 miles north of London. I spent the night with a friend of mine in a smaller village called Great Coxswell, not that it means anything, no pun intended. We'd stayed up all night and talked and I said to her 'Let's go out in the morning and do it' 'You too huh?'. We went out at dawn and she recited an English nursery rhyme, it was a children's rhyme and it was about a cuckoo, a bird. And it went :
"April come she will,
May she will stay,
June she'll change her tune,
July she will fly,
August die she must".

Lots of other Paul quotes about his S&G work (including "Mrs. Robinson") can be found at the following website:

yeah, it was actually groundbreaking, the first movie to use pre-recorded music for its sountrack. Ms. Robinson was written for the film (at least a partial version, the full version was released later) but the rest were on earlier albums.

i heard they were based on an old lullaby... but whatever...

Actually, the movie didn't inspire the song... all Simon & Garfunkel songs that were in the movie/on the soundtrack were written by Paul Simon's own accord, some of them BEFORE the movie.

The soundtrack's the best part.

'September I remember' isn't correct.
The lyric should be like this "September I'll remember'
Thanks anyway.

These lyrics are based on an old traditional rhyme about the Cuckoo's summer life cycle, one version of which goes:

In April I open my bill
In May I sing night and day
In June I change my tune
In July far far I fly
In August away I must

this songs i heard when i watched the movie that inspired the song. The movie called the graduate. This is an academy award movie, so you'd better watch it, 'cause it's very cool and starred perfectly by Dustin Hoffman (two times Oscar Winner ....

All times are in Greenwich Mean Time.
The time is now 05:12:53.
