Une Anne Sans Lumiere Lyrics
Send "Une Anne Sans Lumiere" Ringtone to your Cell
hey! the street lights all burnt out
une anne sans lumiere
je monte un cheval
qui porte des oeilleres
hey! my eyes are shooting sparks
la nuit, mes yeux t'eclairent
ne dis pas ton pre
qu'il porte des oeilleres
hey, your old man should know
if you see a shadow, there's something there

Blinkers are what you use to block a horse's peripheral vision, at least they are in Britain.
Great song

hey! the street lights all burnt out
a year without light
i mount a horse
who wears blinders
hey! my eyes are shooting sparks
the night, my eyes light you up
don't speak of your father
who wears blinders
hey, your old man should know
if you see a shadow, there's something there
People mistook oeilleres for 'blinkers' i guess but they're blinders that block your peripheral vision, ya know so as to not scare the horse... like the reference to the father who pretends not to see him in the shadows.
And it's 'the night, my eyes light you up' because he's speaking TO the night in this line not the girl.
C'mon people I'm an American and I got it.

I'm just a french guy from France which were looking for lyrics by Google... so I'll give my translation into english...
hey! the street lights all burnt out
une année sans lumiere (A year without light)
je monte un cheval (I ride)
qui porte des oeilleres (who wear blinkers)
hey! my eyes are shooting sparks
la nuit, mes yeux t'eclairent (at night, your eyes enlights me)
ne dis pas à ton père (don't tell your father)
qu'il porte des oeilleres(he's wearing blinkers)
hey, your old man should know
if you see a shadow, there's something there

i think this song is powerful because its just small bit of text. for me alteast, the smaller the text the more ..intrigued. i guess is the word about it. im curious to know what they're talking about!

hey! the street lights all burnt out
une année sans lumiere(One year with out light)
je monte un cheval (I climb a horse)
qui porte des oeilleres (who wares blinkers)
hey! my eyes are shooting sparks
la nuit, mes yeux t'eclairent (my eyes light you up, the night)
ne dis pas à ton père (don't tell your dad)
qu'il porte des oeilleres (That he's wareing blinkers)
hey, your old man should know
if you see a shadow, there's something there
That's the best translation I could do... Blinkers are blinders in case you're wondering. I think it's talking about how his father is getting older and now he has to take care of his Dad. But that's just the way I see it.

what the french is basically saying seems to be:
a year without light,
i mount a horse (climb onto a horse)
that wears blinders.
the night, my eyes (t'eclairent) light you up, (cast light on you, enlighten you.)
don't say anything about your father,
that he wears blinders...

eyes are shooting sparks harms it, my eyes t'eclairent you does not say to your father that it carries
oeilleres hey, your old man should know if you has itself shadow, there's something there"

Beautiful song. Leave it to a Montreal-based band to make both French and English work together in the same breath.
