It's not often that I here a cover tune that is better than the original. but I have to say that Tears for Fears disco of this song didn't have a clue. I'm a Nam vet and yes. those are the best dreams I've ever had. This version is as it should have been in the first place.

the original tears for fears version is not as dark a song as the rearanged version by Michael Andrews and sung by Gary Jules.excellent feel.there are two versions by gary jules.one from the movie and the alternate with full compliment of instruments.

Donnie didnt only save gretchen he saved the world. Some would say gretchen is just a pawn in the greater sceme of things but was what made donnie go back and ultimetly save the world. She was killed to make sure the world was put back on cours by donnie.
Great song, great movie

the song its great i loved it long before I even saw the movie, or know anything about it for that matters.
i think the hole point of the story is that he gets to choose who dies, and he chooses himself!

The song fits in, the contrast of the sound is great with the chaos of the film

Donnie goes back in time. Donnie dies, and have never met Gretchen. Heres whats cute. He dies, because he goes back in time. He does that because of her. If he don't go back in time, she will die instead of her. He is willing to die for her, because he loves her. Thats cute...I'm a girl, things like that is what us girls think is cute ;P

Oh and one things bothering me, how is this "cute once you get the point of the movie"?
Indeed it is an intelligent and intrueging film. Infact the film is one of my obsessions, I've spent many, many hours watching it over and over, researching on the net and whatnot. Hell, I've even read "the Philosophy of Time Travel". And I have come to the conclusion that this is not a cute story.
It is... unexplainable, it's something that sticks with you it's something that just is part of you and yet you can't name the feeling it gives you. Somewhere in between of despair and hope, I guess.

Sometimes I'm afraid that you'll tell me that this is not a work of fiction. I can only hope that the answers will come to me in my sleep. I hope, that when the world really does come to an end, I can breathe a sigh of relief... Because there will be so oo much to be looking forward to.

It´s cute once you get the point in the movie....But hey, not everybody can understand the intelligence in the film. And oh, WHY du people tend to think Gary Jules wrote this song? If people catch thing song in the movie Donnie Darko, they should pay enough attention to see that this is a Tears For Fears song...Rolan Orzabal is still the composer of this song, and hey, newsflash, Roland was one of the founders of the group Teras For Fears, and Gary Jules had him as one of his idols....Stupid Baish!

I dont know what to say about this song. Its a little odd. It was on the beginning of CSI: Las Vegas last night and its on Donnie Darko. Both depressing and strangly entertaining. Its a pretty good song.****
