the pixies were WAY ahead of their time in their sound. And that's probably why they are so popular nowadays, because it sounds like modern rock. Just everything about them.......the guitar lick in this song sounds like something out of a white stripes song. As a matter of fact, this song SOUNDS like the white stripes.

i love this song!
i think fight club is a bit difficult to understand because you have to think much about it, but i really like the scene at the end where that song is played...every time i listen to it i see the skyscrapers fall to the ground and the both people hand in hand watching it...
and the person who showed me the film means very much to me, maybe that's why i'm so in love with the song =)

The Pixies are a great band.. loved them for years now... when i get down i always tend to put them it.. and just sail away... This song and Wave of Mutilation are my favs. but on another note.. i see people askin what the song is about.. does it really matter as long as it speaks to you? yup thats what it thought.

not the right lyircs: not "but they told me, he swears - trying to talk to me, to me to me..."
but "but he told me east is west - trying to talk to me, coy koi."

It cracks me up that people who discovered this song through Fight Club (which is a great movie) think that it's new or something! This song is probably older than half of the people using this site! I'm not trying to be snobby, honestly. Merely and observation.
And Placebo could never comapre to The Pixies.

I'll just quote Chuck Palahniuk :
"One minute was enough, Tyler said, a person had to work hard for it, but a minute of perfection was worth the effort. A moment was the most you could expect from perfection."
This song was perfect for a minute, and many more after in fact ;-)

Firstly this song rocks. Secondly i reckon its totally abstract and you can gleen any meaning you want from it. Thirdly how could placebo possibly come close to the vocals of Black Francis??? finally fight club is so cool, great song for a great movie. Pixies for life!!!!!!!!

Errr...... you made a mistake on the line... it should be, "tryin' to talk to me coy koi"
((closed captioning in Fight Club and I have semi-decent ears))
