Clarity Lyrics

I worry
I weigh three times my body
I worry
I throw my fear around
But this morning
There's a calm I can't explain
The rock candy's melted, only diamonds now remain
By the time I recognize this moment
This moment will be gone
But I will bend the light pretending
That it somehow lingered on
And I will wait to find
If this will last forever
And I will wait to find
If this will last forever
And I will waait to find
That it won't and it won't because it can't
It just can't
(It's not supposed to)
Was there a second of time I looked around?
Did I sail through or drop my anchor down?
Was anything enough to kiss the ground
And say I'm here now?
And she is here now
So much wasted in the afternoon
So much sacred in the month of June
How 'bout you?
And I will wait to find
If this will last forever
And I will wait to find
If this will pay no mind
When it won't and it won't
Because it won't
And I will waste no time
Worried 'bout no rainy weather
And I will waste no time
Remaining in our lives together

I agree with you guys. the "ooooooowwwwwwwoooo" thing reall y gets me too. I cant say why it just sends this yummy calm soothing feeling from my head to my toes cause thats how his songs make me feel. Like Norah Jones. All I have to do is pop on my headphones and press play and its like....instant Hakuna Matata. You know, no worries. I just sink into the feeling and there's nothing except me and the music.

NewDeep~I get what you mean! The "woooooo wooooo" is really calming, and the clapping is pretty and goes with it well. The video is nice too, the little girl at the lake. I've always loved walking along the beach during darker skies, not ugly dark, but a pretty like ready-to-rain dark, and the wind blowing, it's beautiful and very calming.

merene and newdeep, I totally agree with you. I'm not a big john mayer fan, but those ooohhh's have a surreal effect on me, too. Can't explain why, though.

well, despit the fact that these lyrics aren't correct, I still LOVE this song and I think John Mayer is one of the greatest artists out there right now...it also helps that he is incredibly cute and just has the world's sexiest voice...sigh...

Actually this song is about himself, about his life and his fast developing career. It starts off talking about his fears, and all the things he worries about, often these fears are silly and he is realizing that. And he talks about how he is waiting to see if it'll all last, but he knows it wont, it cant it just cant. He knows he is having his time now, and that this time will pass, but he figures why worry about it when he knows it wont last forever? And he is saying he tries not to take himself to seriousk, or all his success, because he may be young, but he is smart enough to know not to worry about the rainy weather (aka bad times that will someday come) becuase he is just enjoying his time as a music star, and that when it passes he ll have other things in his life.
it is a very mature concept for such a young star, and shows he s grown alot since his last album.

again john has amazed me. before 2 days ago i had only heard and fell in love with 1 of john's songs: your body is a wonderland but then i remembered having seen the bigger than my body video and falling in love with it and a month or so later i saw it again and on impulse bought the cd. i can't really say that i have ever owned a cd filled with more talent, honesty and sensitivity as heavier things. this is not my favorite song but i love it it really soothes me, especially during french when i am finishing homework for every other class and stressing over all my probs (french is very boring and this leaves too much daily free mind wandering time) and then i just turn on my cd player and BANG everything feels good again. thank you john!

I worry constantly, but I try to make this song my mantra because to me it seems like the song is saying there are things that are just not worth your time worrying your life away. Stop and smell the roses, or something

This song is about the realization of possibly missing a true love, maybe it was just a fling, but John second guesses and thinks it could have been more. That’s exactly why in the beginning he is talking “about worrying and “throwing his fears around. He “weighs three times his body because this is a burden on him. He is worrying that he overlooked true love. “Rock candy melting and “Diamonds remaining has to with the transition from lust and “puppy love to true love. That sweet stuff is nice but, doesn’t last and Diamonds are forever like true love. He says by the time “I recognize this moment it will be gone, again this goes with the thing that he is looking back and appreciating something that once was. Perhaps even, he is in the present and knows that this thing he has won’t last and later he will look back on it and miss it. Bending the light is changing the story, making something that wasn’t much into something great (like a summer fling into true love). In the chorus he is saying he is trying to figure out if this is true love but he’s not going to put to much thought into it he just has to enjoy it because he expects it to fail. (That’s why he is calm in the beginning of the song too). Next he goes on to say more about missing opportunities (not dropping he anchor down and not looking around to appreciate things), and maybe he was right for not staying with her because it wasn’t worth it (That’s the thing about was it anything enough to kiss the ground). The next paragraph is about “the month of June and “the Afternoon is talking about a summer love and the time they spent together but was it just a summer fling for you? He poses the question to the girl…

I find this song very calming, like everything going to work out. The intro music just soothes everything.
It's not typical John Mayer, but I love the trumpet at the begining of the song. I don't know what it is about this song, but it gets in your head and you don't want it out. It's just. . . well his whole CD. . . just takes you somewhere else. I hope I made some sense!
