God Lyrics
(written by: John Lennon)
Send "God" Ringtone to your Cell
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I'll say it again
God is a concept
By which we measure
Our pain
I don't believe in magic
I don't believe in I-Ching
I don't believe in Bible
I don't believe in tarot
I don't believe in Hitler
I don't believe in Jesus
I don't believe in Kennedy
I don't believe in Buddha
I don't believe in mantra
I don't believe in Gita
I don't believe in yoga
I don't believe in kings
I don't believe in Elvis
I don't believe in Zimmerman
I don't believe in Beatles
I just believe in me
Yoko and me
And that's reality
The dream is over
What can I say?
The dream is over
Yesterday
I was the dreamweaver
But now I'm reborn
I was the Walrus
But now I'm John
And so dear friends
You just have to carry on
The dream is over
Send "God" Ringtone to your Cell

Take a deep breath and read what I gotta say. Looking back on John's songs with the beatles, I now realize that Yoko was a better partner than Paul, why? because John was (is) in LOVE with Yoko and they had too much in common, a perfect match. She is a person with great Ideals, John was too, they both care (I know John still) about peace, understanding, LOVE, and the entire human race. John along with Yoko gave the world a short list of songs with a TRUE MEANING (Not filled the world with silly love songs), for instance: How?, Imagine, Give peace a chance, Woman, War is over, Instant karma, etc...
Now, I'm not sayin' HE needed Yoko specially to write all this songs, but her influence is there.
It sure is a short list of songs, but most of them will forever live in the hearts of people who loved John.
Ohh by the way, I'm not saying that Lennon/Mc'cartney's partnership sucks because it doesn't, they both gave us a precious gift.

GnarKill934, Umm -- Somewhat ... he just realized that religion was and is the main cause of pain and suffering, and that if it were to disappear, things would be better.
In other words, imagine how great the world would be if no one was discriminated against because of their religion and (in the second verse) their nationality ...
I'm not sure if I explained that in a way that is logical to you, and I could be wrong in my analysis ... Think for yourself. Don't listen to me.

Good, I'm glad to hear it! If I knew her I would probably have loved her. (which I probably do any way- but not in THAT sense!) I bet she's very nice to get on with and John was probably very lucky to have a wife like her.

I've come to love Yoko. I mean, now that I have found out more about her ... wow! She's my kind of person! And I believe that had I met her in the '60s we could have been great friends. There is still this one part of me that holds her having been so close to John against her ... but it's slowly fading. She was an amazing person! And everything that she did in her life I admire (save the drugs) ... I feel guilty for jumping to conclusions before ... it's unlike me ...

It makes me feel very guilty to be jealous of JL's wife, but I just can't help myself. It's just the way it is.

Johnny's Girl, I agree with you. And I think that I AM slightly jealous of Yoko (despite my not being the jealous type). I mean, I just can't help it even though I hate myself for it ...
I feel incredibly sorry for her. I mean, she DID suffer the blame of all those Beatles Fans who thought that it was entirely her fault that the band split when really it wasn't at all. I mean, she had a part in it, but she wasn't intentionally trying to break them up. I think of allthe hate-mail she must have gotten and how horrible she must have felt ... I mean, I don't really think that she cares what people thought about HER, but I think that the fact that she affected people's opinions of John must have killed her. Also, living in fear of being asassinated by some raged fan must have gotten over-whelming at times, no? All in all I think that she is a good person and don't really have anything against her. And I am sympathetic toward her in regards to the above, but I still can't really like her, if you know what it is that I mean. Right-o! Buh-bye!

Thanks edible shoelaces. Such a moving comment, I'm crying as I write this. I don't think he would have been around if Yoko had not been with him. This may sound rather hard hearted, but do you think that the likes of you and I are not huge fans of Yoko because we too are in love with JL and we are just a bit (I'll say the hard word) jealous of her? I'm not really the jealous type, but I think that's why (part of the reason, anyway) she had to suffer all the blame for the end of the Beatles. Because she dared to fall in love with a Beatle, and so many female fans were jealous.

Brilliant. Just brilliant. So blunt and honest, just as his other solo work. The man was truly the greatest musical genius in Rock & Roll history. I can't believe how outrageously great he was ...
It makes me sad to think that the reason John Lennon's solo career was what it was, is because he lost faith in mankind. I mean, that's the x-factor between his solo work and his work wih Beatles, man: By the time the mid '70s rolled around he was just so sick of the world and the way people treated each other and the poverty and pollution and wars (political and otherwise) ... and he used his music as an emotional outlet, which was what made his music so brilliantly -- er -- brilliant ...? I dunno. It just depresses me, man. And (although I'm not a huge fan of her's) I'm glad that he had Yoko just because she made him happy and let him know that the world wasn't entirely evil. I can't help fight the feeling that had she not been there he would have killed himself before the '80s arrived: which makes me even more sad ...

The best part of this song ids the opening line. Nobody could say so much in a line or two like Lennon could.
