Here is a story for u. I used to go out with a guy who smokes coke (rock), I was trying it with him too for a little while. When I hear this song it was like hearing a story about our Friday night. This song really is about smoking rock. You love it, but when your head clears up, and you start to think about you hate it! Then a few days later, when u come into some money, you'll love it again.
But for me it is a song about two (girl and guy) drug addicts, cause they could also be smoking weed, heroine. You can "hit" a joint or a straight (a thing to smoke rock coke). Everytime I hear the song I start thinking about that guy and the drug, not sure what I loved more at that time.

i like the song very much...but the refrain is definitly the best part of the song! i also know the feeling to love someone i hate...i loved him but i hated him cause he had a terrible humour and he laughed about me all the time, but in any way he liked me too, cause he was still trying to write me as i already realised that he wasn't the right for me...but it's really better and easier to love someone who you also like...

whatever - it is possible to love somebody who has lots of habits that you hate. i am in such a situation myself. if he played that line to you (why do you love me?) he may be trying to get you to open up to him the reasons why you love him. he may not really understand why he loves you either.
i love a person who i have tons of difficulties with. i dont fully understand why i love her. but i do.
there are no easy answers. i wish there were. i hope what i've shared helps you somehow.

Ok so obviously you guys all have a lot of different opinions on this song. Well let me tell you all a little story about my life right now. This guy that i'm like, in love with played that song to me the other day. He only played the line that goes..."I hate everything about you why do i love you, you hate everything about me why do you love me." He told me it ment somthing. I didnt really get it though. It's a long story but now I have a question for you all and I want EVERYONES opinions if you would it would be way nice cuz i'm so confused right now. So I was thinking...maybe it means he cant stand me but yet he still loves me. That doesnt make any sence to me though. How do you love someone you cant stand? It's like impossible...thats not LOVE. But if it is possible then should I at least be happy he somewhat loves me? Or should I be upset? Cuz i'm feeling upset right now. Also another thing could be that hes trying to tell me he doesnt love me and its his easy way of telling me...by playing the song. Or could it be that he hates me and hes trying to tell me to leave him alone? I have no clue though cuz he actually keeps getting mad at me for asking..."do you hate me?" over and over again. he keeps saying "no, why cant you just believe that?" and stuff like that. i dont know i need help...what does everyone else think? I'll be waiting for answers...thanks!
