ugh, too many comments, way too long. Anywho, I like Green Day. They're music make me laugh, in a good way. What they say about the media is all so very true. When i sing this song I dont say American Idiot-I say American Idiom. Wierd thing 2 do but nontheless fun.
P.S. You have to listen 2 the song throughly 2 get the meaning...

Blinker, This song is not an insult aimed towards our country, but an insult aimed at the media. The media is full of people trying to force their ideas upon us, but Green Day is basically saying that we won't be "brainwashed" like many have been.

I like this song because the media tries to brainwash society to think negatively about people who are different. The arguments of the media (and the christians doing the persecuting)are complete bullshit and have no basis in reality. All they care about is the flock societies they create where everyone is expected to live/look/religiously the same or they die. Iis all just an excuse to persecute someone else
