When i hear this song i get a similar, but different perspective of the song. In this day and age, war is constantly upon us. Today when i hear this song, it doesnt remind me of a girlfriend or a friend. It reminds me of war, and the tragedys and loses of war. I think that is what todays life has turned us all into. To think that when some of these comments were posted a few years ago, pre 9-11. We never had to worry about these things. All we had to worry about was getting home in time to watch friends, and make sure theres enough jelly to make a sandwich in the afternoon. Now we cant even step outside without the thought of the building we're in blowing up, or if the guy in front of me in the bank has a gun.
It's a sad world we live in today.

I lose friends faster than I make them ... and I don't care to make more. Lovers I've hardly known ... so I'll stick to being alone. And disappointment will spare us both.

This song is half about losing a friendship and at, and the other half is about a lost love. It serves a dual purpose, which is only one reason why i think this is a great song. "I wanna taste the salt of your skin." Definitely not just a friend. And if u think about it, a lost love is like losing your best friend. I've recently gone through a rough breakup. With that girl for 2 and 1/2 years of my life, and the it was the best time i could remember. I still get sad thinking that she just freaked out and left cuz we were so young. But maybe after she grows a little she'll realize what she's lost. "How's it gonna be, when you found out there was nothing, between you and me, cuz I don't care." It's sad, and hard to deal with, but it's over...

I listened to this song about twelve thousand times on the night I broke up with my boyfriend. It helped to realize how stupid I was and that I was gonna lose my best friend and how much it was gonna hurt when he didn't "know me anymore." The pain was too much, so I walked over to his house at 1 in the morning and made everything alright. I've never been more grateful to a song.

How true this song is, it came out when our relationship started, we listened to this song 100's of times, little did I know it was defining our relationship in the future, it just took six and half years to get there.

this has got to be one of the most truest and saddest songs when you think about it. this song is so deep. everyone, no matter who you are, will relate to this song. we all have someone that we probably loved or cared about so much and then lost them. this song is already related to me. i lost someone that i really loved because of a stupid mistake and i can't ever take it back. i used to listen to this song when we were in love and i didn't really understand it, but now.. i know exactly how it's going to be when they left. :-(

love this song, even if it is about friendship, it explains my relationship (or lack thereof) with my "boyfriend" almost perfectly. I definitely think its one of their best.

Third Eye Blind is my all time favorite band, and this is one of my all time favorite songs. I love the deep lyrics, and the beat rocks my world. I recommend everyone pick up their newest CD "Out of the Vein". It rocks my world!

This is one of those songs I like but I dont like. I like the honesty and the truth in it. But I hate t because it makes you think of your friendships and how they come and go.

Easily one of their best. I hear it and it makes me think of my relationships over and over. Ugh... Songs that can do that to you are very powerful and those are the ones you NEVER forget.
