A Day In The Life Lyrics

Send "A Day In The Life" Ringtone to your Cell

I read the news today, oh, boy
About a lucky man who's made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well, I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights have changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure if he was from the House of Lords

I saw a film today, oh, boy
The English army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
But I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on

Woke up, fell out of bad
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke
And somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I saw the news today, oh, boy
Four-thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall
I'd love to turn you on

Some music critics claim McCartney's "Yesterday" is "the perfect song", but in my opinion this one from (mostly) John Lennon has it beat by several miles.

An absolute masterpiece.

the first verse is actually about Tara Browne, the Guinness heir who died in a car accident at 22

interesting facts about this song: Paul and John had the chorus start at their lowest note and allowed them to play at their own pace as long as they all ended up on the right note to start paul mccartney's section of the song! AWESOME!

this was originally on sgt. pepper's lonely hearts club band by the beatles (released in 1966) not imagine. The first verse is supposedly about the "death" of paul mccartney. The man who made the grade was the mccartney look alike and the man who blew his mind out in the back of the car was paul himself who supposedly had his head badly crushed in a car accident. The last verse was based on an article in the "daily mail".

This is one of the most influential songs of the 60s.

All times are in Greenwich Mean Time.
The time is now 08:14:17.
