Political Science Lyrics

No one likes us
I don't know why.
We may not be perfect
But heaven knows we try.
But all around even our old friends put us down.
Let's drop the big one and see what happens.
We give them money
But are they grateful?
No they're spiteful
And they're hateful.
They don't respect us so let's surprise them;
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them.
Now Asia's crowded
And Europe's too old.
Africa's far too hot,
And Canada's too cold.
And South America stole our name.
Let's drop the big one; there'll be no one left to blame us.
Bridge:
We'll save Australia;
Don't wanna hurt no kangaroo.
We'll build an all-American amusement park there;
They've got surfing, too.
Well, boom goes London,
And boom Paris.
More room for you
And more room for me.
And every city the whole world round
Will just be another American town.
Oh, how peaceful it'll be;
We'll set everybody free;
You'll have Japanese kimonos, baby,
There'll be Italian shoes for me.
They all hate us anyhow,
So let's drop the big one now.
Let's drop the big one now.

Phish head and Kadiak, Wha-a-a! wimps like you are why America has to fight these wars.
I bet neither of you have served what ever countries you are from. Exercising your freedom to moan as a civilian. Now you gets...
You both seem to like the song but are using it to attack the USA. I am American and survived a terrorist attack in Lebanon (1982) when over 300 of my friends and fellow Marines did not. The men who conducted that attack are cutting off a man' head today, you can see it tonight on tv.
America is a peace loving nation. We will hit you where it hurts if you hurt us. I suggest you refrain from posting anti American rhetoric in the future especially in regards to patriots like Randy Newman and all Americans.
I quote another Randy Newman song "Roll with the Punches", "You ain't gonna get nowhere putting down the old USA".

mcs37 - It's people like you who scare me. America is a great country, it’s a wow place and I'll go back anytime, but it’s that abject egotistical idealism you are portraying in your post that has the world losing all respect for you (the USA). You are a case in point as to why the US is not looked upon favorably.
Greatest nation on the planet, ever? Have you been to every country on the planet, ever? Have you got statistical data and peer reviews to back up your statement? Can you corroborate your statement with credible resources? No only media hype and a right-wing idealism.
Be proud of your country, I am proud of mine. But don't come with your starry-eyes BS, there are many bad things about the USA, and many great things about other countries on this planet. Keep an open mind, you'd be amazed at what can come in.
Why is it that the amazing sensible Americans keep their mouths shut while the empty cans go out there and make the USA more enemies than it already has?
God blesses America. God Bless Australia, South Africa, Brazil, and God especially bless Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and all the other war-torn countries in this world of ours, and God blesses all nations, not just America.
Back on topic – Great song, great lyrics! Nothing like a well-placed dollop of sarcasm to liven up your day.

Freedom is doing whatever you want so long as the Americans agree. These lyrics verify that statement of mine.
I'll prevent myself from saying what I really feel the urge to say. I know I could get bombed. Even if I am Australian. Unless I'm with a kangaroo. Everyone loves the kangaroo, except those who have damaged their cars from hitting them.

Indeed it's a good political song, but I like it in a realistic sense as well. America is the modern Roman Empire, and everyone else is jealous of us and hate us for our power. It's hard to be the best! We are the greatest nation on the planet (ever), and it's amazing to be one of her citizens. God bless America!

This song is one of the finest examples of describing the narrowmindedness so characteristic of america. Imagine that this song was written over 30 years ago, and look what the US of A is doing these days. "Who is not for us is against us". I am glad to hear that it is now being played repeatedly over there, hopefully people who listen to it will wake up and act accordingly.

More appropriate today than ever. This song is no longer political satire but the Bush Administration mission statement. Hear it and weep.

This is the best song I've ever heard, and Blast from the past the best movie I've seen. I can't believe it... How about that to the politically correct fascists?!

Dripping with humor, sarcasm and irony - my favorite triplets - it's the best damn political song ever!
