i love the guitar playing at the beginning of this song... and how it builds up.. makes you wanna just sit back and close your eyes with a goofy smile (which is hard to do when you're listening to it when walking with headphones)...it's pure heaven... did i mention it totally turns me on too? :D haha... im a dork. thank you so much to the person that introduced pink floyd to me.

yeah, I think I heard Dave Gilmour talking about that in an interview somewhere. Very sad.
Fecking amazing song. I mean everything, absolutely everything about it is as close to perfect as you could ever hope to achieve. The lyrics, I think, are Waters at his best, intensely emotional without being sentimental. It's just so beautifully, honestly written. And the vocals are simply perfect, calm and slightly detached but then with interludes of powerful emotional resonance. It's amazing that they could make a song about something so sad, so uplifting at the same time.
And the guitar!! Bloody hell, the guitar. In the complete version, with all the parts, about 14 minutes in, the guitar solo there is just hair raising. It gives me goosebumps. Dave Gilmour is an artist of astonishing refinement and quality.

13 minutes of juicy pleasure, i love this song.
whoever said these lyrics could be better: think again, they are incredible. the raw emotion and pure dripping passion are simply overwhelming in this song, listen again closely and see if you can hear and FEEL the power behind both the music and the lyrics.

This is one of my favourite Pink Floyd songs. It's a great instrumental piece and when you put it together with 6-9 it makes a great piece of music. The lyrics are really secondary to the great guitar work in this song. Normally I'm not big into instrumentals but I could listen to this again and again. Great work, a nice tribute.

3.2?? C'mon, people. Sit down and listen to this song, you will be swept away on the rolling waves of David Gilmour's masterful, emotional guitar playing and Roger Waters' calming vocals. The lyrics aren't quite as touching as they should have been, but this song is still an epic nevertheless.
